Have owned a ‘98 Cobra. Can confirm. It was slow even with 4.10 gears and a tune... (They left the factory with 2.73s. A high-revving, no-low-end-torque-having 32v V8, a manual, and 2.73 gears. Y?)

It was pre 21-speed transmissions like we have now.

Those were the ones Ford had to pay a bunch of money back to the buyers. They weren’t any faster than regular GT’s, so they were forced to refund the price difference between the GT and the Cobra back to the Cobra buyers. I knew a guy who bought a new one, he called a Slowbra. As soon as he got his refund, he traded it in on a new truck.
